It’s not Christmas if there is no beautiful smell inside of a home.

When I was living in Paris, I felt in love with candles and I think I found the most exquisite candle brand. Before my move to Paris, I simply didn’t understand the point what are the perfume candles about, I just knew they can smell good. Candles are like personal perfumes, they are scenting your home and you make memories of your home according to that scent. Candle is as intimate as perfume. Sort of revelation happened in Sens Unique Paris when I had my first encounter with Quintessence. I immediately wanted my world to be surrounded by Quintessence. Œillet Royal is arousing my emotions with the beauty it has.

My curiosity for candles started with famous Cire Trvdon and Diptyque. But, after that, happened Quintessence and everything else became history. In my opinion, Quintessence has better quality than Cire Trvdon and Diptyque. The reason is in uncompromising quality of their candles, with at least 10% of essentials and true perfumers behind them. Even when the candle is not lit, the wax diffuse the scent all around the room. Every wax is composed with very specific compounds and the core is made by perfumer. Perfumers like Pierre Bourdon or Julien Rasquinet worked on them.

Œillet Royal by BL’eauOG

Every winter, before Christmas, Quintessence releases new candle. Last year was Angèlys, which was gorgeous, with pine as the main theme. Release of this year is Œillet Royal. Beautiful, enveloping candle that smells of Christmas. The candle is made by young, talented perfumer Julien Rasquinet who is a hot-stuff at the moment in the perfume world.

Main theme of this candle is “Œillet”, in French, that is clove. Like the name suggest, royal clove is inside. Clove pretends to be the leading violin when the orchestra plays Vivaldi’s Spring. Indeed, royal clove is the main note, followed by very subtle and creamy notes. There is floral heart of Turkish rose, ylang-ylang and Egyptian jasmine, but above all, warm spices dominate the scent.

Quintessence is not known to larger public, which makes them very exclusive and prestigious candle house. For me, the best candle brand there is, that goes beyond traditional candle makers such as Cire Trvdon or Diptyque.

Dear readers, thank you for reading this review. There will be more articles from the same brand so stay tuned and do not forget to follow Facebook and Instagram page too!

My name is Juraj Sotosek-Rihtarec and I am the only person that runs this BL’eauOG. BL’eauOG is the play of words meaning “blog” and “eau” which means “water” in French, allusion to “Eau de Parfum” for example, and you read it simply as “bloog”. I started my blog several years ago and I imagined it as a place where I can express my critics on the world of fine perfumes. You can find new perfume reviews, interviews, articles about the perfume and something very interesting – video campaigns I did for perfume brands and olfactive dinners which I regularly do (dinner inspired with perfumes). I studied two Masters, one in Croatia and second one in Paris, which enabled me to become the insider of the industry. Life in Paris changed my opinion about perfumes and consequently, my taste changed. I am most proud of being a TED lecturer. I hope you will enjoy this blog and my articles on perfumes.
